KEY POINTS:
Police say two arrests in the Napier suburb of Tamatea yesterday are connected with the reported sighting of an armed man in the area.
A man and woman were due to appear in Napier District Court today after police responding to reports of a man with a firearm searched their vehicle and found drugs and restricted weapons.
The pair, both 31, faced charges of possession of cannabis for supply, cultivating cannabis and possession of restricted weapons.
Sergeant Wendy Wright said both the man and the woman were connected to the incident but the man was not the one spotted with a weapon.
At around 11.30am yesterday a worker from the area reported a Maori man wearing a blue bandana chasing another man in Tyrone Place.
Police were still investigating the incident and were asking all residents to search their property for discarded weapons or clothing, Ms Wright said.
