Police investigating an Auckland home invasion, in which a father and son were seriously assaulted, have arrested two men and are looking for a third.
A 19-year-old arrested in Manurewa today will appear in the Auckland District Court tomorrow charged with one count of aggravated burglary and two counts of aggravated wounding.
A 20-year-old Manukau man was arrested yesterday on unrelated charges but will face charges in Auckland District Court in relation to the home invasion investigation.
Police are looking for a third person in connection with the alleged attacks.
He is 17 year-old Cameron Geros, who has connections in Northland.
Police believed the three men were behind a number of burglaries around the region.
The father and son, aged 63 and 29, were attacked shortly after 5am last Wednesday in suburban Epsom.
Detective Sergeant Graeme Timms of the Glen Innes police said at least two weapons were used during the attack, which left the father in hospital with cuts to his head and face, multiple facial fractures, a lacerated wrist and a broken back.
He and his son were also badly beaten with a weapon.
Police believed the father was run over by the offenders as they left the scene in the stolen green 2002 Toyota Corolla, registration AYF304, which was later was found abandoned a short distance from the property.
"That vehicle was stolen on May 24 and we believe it's been used for more than just the incident at Epsom," Mr Timms said.
It was taken during a burglary on Great South Road in Drury in south Auckland.
"We're following up some reasonably positive leads in regard to that vehicle," he said.
