Police have arrested two men in connection to a gang clash that left four people injured in Gisborne this week.
One person was hospitalised with serious facial injuries and another three with serious lacerations after the confrontation between Mongrel Mob and Black Power members near Crawford Rd at about 1am Saturday.
A witness, who asked not to be named, said she believed one man was stabbed near the spine, another was stabbed in the arm and one near his mouth.
The two groups appeared to be mingling in the middle of the road before the fight broke out, which she described as "really violent".
Three men were admitted to Gisborne Hospital with severe lacerations and have since been discharged. The fourth man was airlifted to Waikato Hospital with serious facial injuries and would require surgery.
A 17-year-old gang member, Afa Masame, appeared in Gisborne District Court on Monday charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm. He was remanded in custody.
Police said today two further men were arrested and charged in relation to the incident.
The men, aged 36 and 26, will appear in Gisborne District Court today also charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
Police continue to investigate the incident and ask anyone with any information to come forward.
