KEY POINTS:
Hamilton police have arrested two Matauri Bay residents and charged them with the kidnapping of Jayden Headley.
A man aged 38 years, employed as a part time labourer and his partner, a woman aged 36 years will appear in the Kaikohe District Court on 8 February 2007.
The man will also face drug charges.
Head of the investigation Detective Senior Chris Page said a search of the pair's Northland property provided police with evidence relevant to the kidnapping.
The specifics of those seizures were sub-judice, he said.
This search coincided with a second search in Horotiu today.
A 61-year-old Horotiu woman was being spoken to by detectives in relation to the search and kidnapping.
Police confirm that investigations are continuing and won't rule out the likelihood of more arrests being made.
"At this stage there a number of other enquiries for Police to follow up with. Those inquiries may reveal links to other persons who assisted in the kidnapping," Mr Page said.
The arrests came about from the continued investigation into the kidnapping and was the result of the hard work of investigators, he said.
"This enquiry required investigators to sift through volumes of information and piece together a course of conduct by a group of offenders acting together to defeat any police investigation," Mr Page said.
Kaye Skelton, Jayden's mother, and Dick Headley, his grandfather, are also facing charges in the kidnapping of the boy.
