A 17-year-old and an 18-year-old have been arrested after a firearm was allegedly used to rob a Taupo service station last night.
A male and a female entered the Caltex station about 9.50pm and pointed a firearm at the attendant, Detective Andy Allan of Taupo said in a statement.
The pair took cash and cigarettes but the attendant was not harmed.
"Police are very concerned about the nature of the incident, particularly the use of a firearm," Mr Allan said.
"Fortunately a good investigation has led to quick arrests."
The teenagers have been charged with aggravated robbery and will appear in Taupo District Court today.
