KEY POINTS:
Two teenagers have been arrested after an arson attack on a Tauranga school earlier this week.
Two classrooms at Welcome Bay Primary School were completely destroyed in a blaze which took several fire crews some time to control and prevent from spreading to adjoining buildings on Tuesday night.
Detective Sergeant Darryl Brazier said today that as result of significant assistance from the public a 14-year-old boy and a 15-year-old girl had been arrested.
They would be referred to the police youth services for prosecution in Tauranga District Court.
Mr Brazier said that police would still like to hear from any witnesses, in particularly a man seen walking his dog in the school grounds at the time of a fire.
He was described as Maori, aged in his late 20s early 30s, with dreadlock style hair.
