Police have arrested two people in connection with a drugs laboratory explosion at a Christchurch house on Monday.
A 25-year-old woman was to appear in Christchurch District Court today charged with being a party to attempting to manufacture methamphetamine, or P.
Police were seeking a two-week remand in custody.
A 39-year-old man from the suburban Hornby house also faces two charges of supplying precursor chemicals for manufacturing methamphetamine.
He has been released on police bail to appear in court next Wednesday.
Detective Sergeant Greg Murton, of the Christchurch police drug squad, said today further arrests and charges were likely.
The suspected P "cook" was in a stable condition in the specialist burns unit at Auckland's Middlemore Hospital today with third degree burns over half his body.
Mr Murton said he was in no condition to speak to police.
Drug squad detectives today moved into the badly damaged Hei Hei Rd house where the explosion happened about 11.30pm on Monday after specialist P lab investigators completed their forensic examination.
They would be at the house all day today and possibly tomorrow, Mr Murton said.
