Police in the Wellington area are investigating two armed robberies this morning.
The first happened just before 7am at the Shell Service station in Mungavin Avenue in Porirua. The offender was wearing a black balaclava.
The second took place at the Animates pet store in Rutherford Street in Lower Hutt at 8.20am.
Central police communications police team leader, Kirsty Henson, says two staff members and a cleaner were getting ready for the day and have been left shaken by the ordeal.
She says the robber made off in a staff member';s car and asks anyone who sees a silver Toyota people mover with registration FQD 205 to contact police immediately.
