Two people have been arrested after a Manawatu man was allegedly tied up, assaulted and locked in a shipping container.
The 27-year-old man was arguing with a group of people at a Feilding house when he was tied up and beaten on Saturday afternoon, the Manawatu Standard reported.
He was then untied, taken to another location and locked in a shipping container overnight.
The man managed to escape when the container was opened on Sunday morning.
He was treated at Palmerston North Hospital for minor injuries.
A woman, 39, and a man, 49, have each been charged with two counts of kidnapping, and one of injuring with intent to injure.
The man will appear in Palmerston North District Court today, while the woman will appear in Feilding District Court next week.
Police said they were also seeking a third man in connection to the incident.
