A Wellington man is staging an old-fashioned treasure hunt this weekend to give away his "unlucky" diamond ring.
Anthony Gardiner bought the $5000 engagement ring for a woman, but "turns out she wasn't as keen", he told The Dominion Post.
The 29-year-old call centre worker said he would stash the ring somewhere in the city and begin posting clues via his Twitter account.
The ring consists of five 0.25 carat diamonds set in white gold and Mr Gardiner hopes it will find a good home.
"Somebody who's keen, who's found a cool chick and who wants to give them something they normally wouldn't be able to afford."
