KEY POINTS:
Macsyna King was was too tired to go home, after being told one of her babies had stopped breathing, the Manukau District Court heard today.
It is the second week of the depositions hearing for the boys' father, Chris Kahui, who is charged with their murders.
Last week the babies' mother Macsyna King said she stayed at her sister's house on June 12, 2006, which is the night the Crown says the twins sustained their severe head injuries.
A friend of her sister has given evidence this morning, saying Mrs King and her sister Emily came over to her house that night.
Ginta Gaile says the three of them drank a three-litre cask of wine, and Macsyna King was in a good mood, singing along to songs. She says the sisters left her place at about 1am.
Emily King says Macysna stayed at her house that night.
She says when they got home her husband told her Chris Kahui's father had come over that night looking for Macsyna to tell her one of the twins had stopped breathing.
Ms King said she tried to wake Macsyna up off the couch to tell her and Macsyna said "yip" and then went back to sleep.
The twins were taken to a doctor the next afternoon and were diagnosed with head injuries and broken bones. They died on June 18, 2006 in Starship Hospital.
The hearing is continuing.
