The father of twins Chris and Cru Kahui may not undergo any further interviews with police at their investigation headquarters after his partner was confronted by a television crew.
Chris Kahui snr will ask police to meet him at a McDonald's restaurant in future, his lawyer says.
His partner, Macsyne King, was confronted by Close Up presenter Susan Wood at the Counties Manukau police HQ in Otahuhu on Tuesday.
Ms King was waiting in a reception area at the police base. She would not comment when Wood asked about the double homicide investigation.
Close Up executive producer Paul Patrick said Wood "just walked in" to the station and police were not given any advance warning of her plans.
Police did not approach her inside the reception area and she was not asked to leave, he said.
Mr Kahui's lawyer, Lorraine Smith, said he had made two statements to police. "After the Susan Wood debacle there is no way I'm taking my client into the police station. We'll meet at McDonald's."
However, she said Mr Kahui had co-operated with police and had nothing further to add to the investigation.
Mrs Smith is not charging Mr Kahui for her services. Whanau members who have engaged lawyers are not entitled to legal aid because no criminal charges have been laid.
