Twenty-eight officers on beating case

Twenty-eight police officers are investigating the near-fatal beating of a Mt Roskill man on April 2.

Sila Kamoto, 23, received extensive head injuries and a broken back after being attacked by up to 12 young people in the middle of the road.

His younger brother was also beaten.

Mr Kamoto remains in Auckland City Hospital in a drug-induced coma.

Police are treating the beating as a homicide inquiry.
