In the past three months TVNZ has spent $1.4 million of direct government funding on local programmes.
Chief executive Rick Ellis today said the state broadcaster had decided to release the details of its local commissioning on a quarterly basis.
Of the $1.4 million, $1.2 million was spent on documentaries and another $140,000 on arts programmes.
