TVNZ Sunday correspondent Cameron Bennett and two colleagues were arrested in Abidjan for allegedly filming a television station.
They were detained for several hours by Government soldiers but released after negotiating their way out of the situation.
United Nations personnel witnessed the event and sat in on negotiations. Bennett, who returned to New Zealand yesterday, said through a spokeswoman that things might have gone quite differently had the UN not been there.
