Pop star Pink claimed TVNZ reporter Hannah Hodson had "lost her marbles" and was "insane" when an interview between the two turned sour last month.
Hodson resigned on Friday after the broadcaster conducted an investigation into the October 23 Sydney interview in which Hodson's questioning apparently led to Pink walking out.
Hodson's sister used to work as an assistant for Pink, but TVNZ and Hodson today denied media reports that the interview included questions from Hodson about why her sister had lost her job.
"Her sister was mentioned in cordial terms. There was no challenge made about her employment," TVNZ spokeswoman Megan Richards said.
She said Hodson resigned, effective immediately, on Friday and "as far as TVNZ is concerned that is the end of the matter".
Hodson declined to say what the row with Pink was about.
"All I can say is there was no line of questioning to do with my sister," she told NZPA from Australia today.
"I would never be as unprofessional as that."
She said she "resigned voluntarily" and was constrained about what she could say, although she denied she'd made a confidential settlement with TVNZ.
"I need a break and it is time to move on," Hodson said, adding she had no plans to work elsewhere.
Ms Richards said TVNZ would start the process to find a replacement for Hodson this week.
In an interview with C4 directly after the TVNZ one, Pink told presenter Phil Bostwick Hodson was "insane".
"She lost her marbles somewhere between there and here ... Her sister used to work for me. Her sister no longer works for me."
Bostwick asked her if that was the problem.
"I think so ... I'm not sure. I was really polite too, it was really hard."
Ms Richards said TVNZ had an inquiry into issues arising from the Pink interview and nothing else.
Sources have told media that Pink's management tried to get a tape off TVNZ crew when the interview stopped.
The interview with Pink was intended to be aired on Close Up, but that never happened.
In 2004, Hodson was asked to resign from TV3 after a fax she sent to police revealed the identity of the person who had leaked the log of a 111 call made by missing Auckland model Iraena Asher.
