Television New Zealand's top news manager, Paul Cutler, is leaving to take up a senior position at American broadcasting giant CNN.
TVNZ chairman Ross Armstrong received Mr Cutler's resignation yesterday afternoon, and said he would be leaving for Atlanta "in a few weeks."
Industry sources said Mr Cutler had been embarrassed by his diminished profile since Mr Armstrong became chairman last year. His hands-on approach and desire for TVNZ to be less commercial was thought to have alienated Mr Cutler.
