When the earth moved for lovebirds Kate Lynch and Andrew Gourdie it was not a good thing.
The couple, who now work for rival networks TVNZ and TV3, were due to marry yesterday at Sumner Catholic Church, Christchurch.
But they had to find another venue because the church was badly damaged in September's earthquake.
The 7.1 shaker couldn't totally disrupt their plans, and they exchanged vows in the Gothic-style St John of God Chapel in the Christchurch suburb of Halswell instead.
Lynch, a reporter on TVNZ's Close Up, wore a full-length white gown with a ruched bodice and voluminous skirt and a flowing veil. She carried a bouquet of pink peonies.
Gourdie, a TV3 sports reporter, was dapper in a slim-fitting black suit.
The pair met when Lynch worked as a news reporter for TV3.
In an interview with Woman's Day earlier this year she said: "He is the most loyal, sensitive, caring, loving and exciting person I've ever met I can't wait to marry him."
