Ford New Zealand has confirmed the little brother to the recently launched Focus ST hot hatch will hit Kiwi roads in the third quarter of this year.
The Fiesta ST (pictured) is the new performance flagship of the Fiesta small car line-up and extends the Ford family of turbocharged EcoBoost engines with a 1.6-litre unit that will develop 132kW of power and 240Nm of torque.
In common with the Focus ST a six-speed manual gearbox is the sole transmission choice and the Fiesta ST is expected to accelerate from 0-100km/h in less than seven seconds.
Built in the Fiesta's three-door bodystyle and developed by engineers from Ford's Team RS operation, the Fiesta ST will have a specially tuned chassis that sits 15mm lower than the standard Fiesta, with Ford's enhanced Torque Vectoring Control system and three Electronic Stability Programme modes.
These technologies were tested over 5000km of driving on Germany's famed Nurburgring.
