KEY POINTS:
The Sikh community is outraged a man robbed two banks and a bar in South Auckland while disguised in the culture's traditional male headdress and a false beard.
The turban-clad robber, armed with a pistol, held up the ASB Manurewa, ANZ Manukau and Heading Home Bar and Grill in East Tamaki by handing staff a note demanding money within a two-hour period on Tuesday.
Justice of the peace and Sikh Society spokesman Daljit Singh said New Zealand's Sikh community of 20,000 was shocked and offended by the robber's actions.
Mr Singh fielded at least 30 phone calls from upset community members after publicity on the robberies.
Police had not found the robber last night but renewed calls for anyone who saw him or who knew of his identity to contact them on (09) 295-0200.
