Damning drug allegations have surfaced against boxer David Tua.
A Sunday newspaper claims it has seen an affidavit sworn by Tua's former manager, claiming the fighter was fed the stimulant ephedrine before big bouts.
Kevin Barry's statement says the drug was used to get David Tua's weight down.
Tua's spokesman, Inga Tuigamala, says he knows about the allegations but insists they are untrue.
He says it is very disappointing to see them come to light now.
Inga Tuigamala believes it is a sign of bitterness and immaturity on the part of Tua's former managers, who he says are determined to destroy the boxer's reputation.
He says Kevin Barry's claim was one of several documents filed in court during a battle over management rights and the assets of Tuaman Inc, but the judge ruled it irrelevant to the argument.
Inga Tuigamala says it is sad the battle between Tua and his former managers has become as bitter as it has.
He says David Tua has grown through the ordeal, and wishes his former managers could also learn to put the past behind them.
