Tsunami warning sirens have accidentally been activated in Whangärei.
Senior Sergeant Matt Rogers said there was no actual tsunami threat, and no one is in danger.
Anybody concerned about hearing the sirens this evening does not have to evacuate or move to higher ground.
Tomorrow morning the alarms will be tested in coastal and harbour areas to ensure they work properly, the Whangarei District Council said earlier.
