The Wairarapa-Bush B rugby side went on a try scoring spree in their massive 72-7 win over Horowhenua-Kapiti B at Levin on Saturday.
Wairarapa-Bush ran in five tries in a first half which ended with them 31-0 ahead and added a further seven in the second half.
As the scoreline would indicate the match was a very one-sided affair with Horowhenua-Kapiti having no answer to a Wairarapa-Bush side which placed the emphasis on attack right from the word go.
It was nothing unusual to see their forwards ranging wide in support of their backs as they constantly tore the home team's defence to shreds. Loosies Nathan Rolls and Jared Hawkins relished the open, free-flowing style of play and were at the forefront of a pack which dominated possession in all avenues. Lock Tim Fleming was always in the thick of things and the mobility of front rowers Richard Puddy, Lee Paku and Willie Leota was impressive.
Halfback James Bruce was the star of a slick Wairarapa-Bush backline. He was here, there and everywhere and provided a quick and accurate service which allowed the likes of George Williams and Dave Drummond to find gaps almost at will. Jared Hawkins (2), Nathan Rolls (2), Dave Drummond (2), Tim Fleming (2), Jono Hurley, Kingi Kaiwai, James Bruce and Richard Puddy scored tries for Wairarapa-Bush with Hurley kicking five conversions and George Williams one conversion. Ashley Drake scored a try forn Horowhenua-Kapiti and converted it himself.
