A 48-year-old Upper Hutt man has appeared in court facing 49 sex charges including rape, with all charges alleged to have been in relation to girls under the age of 12.
Darron John Fisher, truck driver, appeared before the registrar in Masterton District Court yesterday, when lawyer Jock Blathwayt said his client consented to being remanded in custody.
Fisher faces three charges of raping a girl under the age of 12, four of publishing objectionable material, six of knowingly copying objectionable material, seven of unlawful sexual connection with a girl under the age of 12, 14 of possessing objectionable material, and 15 of indecently assaulting a girl.
Some of the charges are believed to involve a girl aged 5 and are alleged to have occurred in Carterton and Upper Hutt in March this year. Fisher is due to reappear on January 22.
