A truck driver suffered a likely medical event before his vehicle ploughed into two houses in South Auckland this morning.
The man in his 50s became trapped in the cab of his truck when the balcony of the second home, which is also a homeopathic clinic, collapsed on it during the accident, near the intersections of Central Ave and Watson Place about 5.29am.

The man in his 50s became trapped in the cab of his truck when the balcony of the second home, which is also a homeopathic clinic, collapsed on it during the accident, near the intersections of Central Ave and Watson Place about 5.29am.
"The truck driver was in a critical condition and emergency services were working to free him but he died at the scene," a police spokeswoman said.
Raghubir Rehan and his family were asleep upstairs above the clinic and thought the shaking and noise that woke them was an earthquake.
"Then I saw from upstairs, by the window, a truck was inside the clinic," he said.
"It was a huge shock. We are very shocked, emotional. We have done lots of hard work on the house and the clinic."
Emergency services are still at the scene working to remove the truck and stabilise the building.
"The truck is still in the house, they are trying to move it but the house is double-storey and the balcony has collapsed on the truck," Dr Rehan said.
