A Martinborough contractor is facing the loss of contracts worth about $100,000 after his truck (pictured) was stolen last weekend.
The owner of Poltech Power Works on Jellicoe St, Gray Carter, was alerted to the theft of the truck, which is used for building powerlines, on Sunday.
Mr Carter said he was gutted when he learnt of the theft.
"Our programme of works for the next three weeks was hard out with this vehicle. We've got guys worried about their jobs - eight families are relying on this."
The thieves had kicked in a roller door to gain access to the building, before loading up the truck with several chainsaws and a concrete saw.
