A truck driver who died when his truck and trailer unit rolled in Manawatu overnight remains trapped in his cab.
The accident, which happened on the Tennent Drive section of State Highway 57, between Linton and Tokomaru, was discovered at 4.45am.
Police spokeswoman Kim Perks said the Toll Tranzlink truck was travelling down a hill towards Tokomaru when it ran out of control on an 85km bend and crossed the centre line.
It rolled on its side down a small ditch, where it remains wedged by pine trees.
The Fire Service has brought in a crane and a digger to try and free the driver, believed to be in his 50s and from Wellington.
The road is not expected to reopen before midday.
