A 69-year-old truck driver was lucky to escape serious injury after his cab was crushed when he lost control of the vehicle north of Nelson yesterday.
Emergency services were called about 3.45pm to the crash at Takaka Hill, north west of Nelson.
A Nelson Marlborough Rescue Helicopter spokesperson said the driver was lucky to only suffer minor injuries after his truck rolled.
The driver, believed to be transporting a load of mussels, was able to free himself from the crushed cab, but required medical attention.
He was treated by rescue helicopter staff before being taken to Nelson Hospital's emergency department.
