A truck driver is suffering life threatening injuries after their truck and trailer unit rolled down a bank in South Waikato today.
The crash happened on State Highway 1, near Lake Karapiro just after 2.30pm.
The driver of the truck was initially trapped but had now been taken to hospital with critical injuries, Inspector Steve Kose of northern police communications said.
Heavy haulage recovery units were at the scene to help recover the vehicle.
As a result of the crash, one of the two north-bound lanes, had been closed to traffic, Mr Kose said.
