KEY POINTS:
A truck driver is in a serious condition after crashing in Marlborough this morning.
The 37-year-old Blenheim man was driving the truck which hit an embankment, throwing him from the vehicle, Dave Greenberg from the Westpac Rescue Helicopter said.
The crash happened on State Highway 1 at Kekerengu, 56km northeast of Kaikoura, at 5am.
The truck driver was flown to Wellington Hospital with head injuries and was reported to be in a very serious condition, Mr Greenberg said.
Police said the crash was causing delays on SH1.
