A truck driver is being airlifted to hospital after a crash involving another truck on the Coromandel Peninsula.
Northern fire communications shift manager Jaron Phillips said one of the truck drivers was initially trapped and had to be cut free by local firefighters.
The crash between the two trucks happened on SH25A - Kopu-Hikuai Rd - at 11.15am near the Stadia Stream Bridge.
Fire crews from Thames, Tairua and Pauanui attended.
Police said the road will soon be closed to allow a helicopter to land and take one of the drivers to hospital.
