Three trampers were injured in separate incidents in the Tongariro National Park yesterday.
Just after lunch the Taupo-based Greenlea Rescue helicopter was sent to a woman in her twenties who had slipped near the summit of Mt Tongariro and injured her ankle, pilot Nat Every said.
Just as she was recovered into the helicopter another woman fell and suffered a fractured arm while climbing the red crater.
"She was hover loaded in to the helicopter and they were both flown to Rotorua Hospital," Mr Every said.
On the return flight to Taupo the helicopter was again sent to the national park, this time to Mt Ruapehu where a Wellington woman in her thirties had fallen while descending the upper slopes of the mountain.
