Trio's claim false - police

Queensland police say CCTV footage of a July 19 incident in which three New Zealanders were arrested for obstructing police in View St, Surfers Paradise, does not support the trio's claims they were trying to help a wounded man.

Munro Waerea and Kararaina Ngoungou, both 24, of Whakatane, and another person were pepper-sprayed, arrested and later charged with obstruction after they tried to help a man lying unconscious in a pool of blood not far from their motel.

The three were subsequently convicted in Southport Magistrates Court.
