Trio ready to splash out

All dressed up but no party to go to.

Not even the wild weather could keep these three enthusiastic swimmers from turning up in their equally wild costumes for the annual Winter Splash - only to find the event cancelled.

Auckland workmates Kate Siegert, Martin Knazovicky and Jaana Krause were out in full force at Auckland's Mission Bay beach yesterday morning, complete with brightly coloured wigs, stripey socks, tights and hula skirts for the Auckland City Council's swim event, which invites people to dress up as their favourite superhero and take to the icy water.
