Trio deny assaulting 5-year-old girl

Interim name suppression was granted for a 69-year-old Masterton man and a 26-year-old Masterton woman who along with Glen Mark Ferguson, 36, denied assaulting a girl, 5.

Three people have appeared in court facing serious violence charges involving a 5-year-old girl.

Glen Mark Ferguson, 36, and a 69-year-old Masterton man, along with a 26-year-old Masterton woman, both with interim name suppression, all appeared separately before Judge Barbara Morris in Masterton District Court on Monday.

They have all pleaded not guilty to the charges they face, electing trial by jury.

Ferguson is charged with assaulting the child at Masterton on November 3.

The 26-year-old woman is facing two counts of assaulting the girl on the same day, and a joint charge with the 69-year-old of injuring with intent.

Ferguson has been remanded on bail to reappear on February 16 for a case review.

He also pleaded not guilty to another charge alleging he stole a battery drill worth $129 from Auto Paint Wairarapa on October 17.

Meanwhile, the other two accused have been remanded on bail to reappear on January 22 for a case management review and for name suppression to be argued.
