Terry Milne, who died in a workplace accident this week, was "a great family man with a big heart" and his boss says the Otorohanga man will be deeply missed.
"He always came to work on Monday mornings in a cheerful mood, full of stories about the weekend," said Brent Pevreal, Corboy Earthmovers managing director. "We will miss his yarns and sense of humour."
Mr Pevreal said Mr Milne, 60, died on Monday from internal injuries sustained when a tanker containing emulsion exploded.
Earlier reports Mr Milne died from burns were incorrect, Mr Pevreal said.
The accident happened at the Corboy premises in Te Kawa, in the King Country.
