Union workers and activists are planning a tribute this week in honour of a fellow campaigner who died at the weekend in a car accident.
Piripi Pokaitara-Wikiriwhi, 29, was killed when the motorcycle he was riding and a car collided in Grey Lynn, Auckland, on Saturday morning.
Union worker and friend Simon Oosterman said Mr Pokaitara-Wikiriwhi spread the message against car culture and Auckland road deaths.
Mr Oosterman said details of the tribute had yet to be decided, but it would be at the intersection of Great North Rd and Williamson Ave, where the accident happened.
Mr Pokaitara-Wikiriwhi, also known as Philip Thompson, was a member of Unite Union and was involved in campaigns on behalf of low-paid and minimum-wage workers.
