The appeal by New Zealand's Olympic triathlon officials over the use of a time-keeper during the cycle leg has been upheld.
Organisers had wanted to introduce a time-keeper on a motorcycle, used during the cycling leg, to inform the chasing group of riders how far behind they were from the leaders.
New Zealand has successfully appealed the rule-change saying it was unfair to the leading riders who would not know how far behind the chasers were.
The times of all the riders will now posted on a white-board at the transition point.
New Zealand national coach Graham Park said the motorcycle time-keeper was not in the rules of the sport, and he was blown away that officials attempted to introduce it for the Games.
