KEY POINTS:
The defence will today open its case in the trial of Vance Young-Whaanga, who faces a manslaughter charge stemming from the death of a Wellington pedestrian.
The 19-year-old also faces a charge of dangerous driving causing the death of Amy Edward-Mintorn in August last year.
Young-Whanga's vehicle did not hit Ms Edward-Mintorn, but the Crown alleges he is equally responsible for her death because he was one of three cars racing when she was hit.
Today as the Crown wrapped up its case the jury saw a police video where Young-Whaanga denied racing earlier that night, but later admitted he had taken part in at least three races at Lyall Bay.
The defence say they will call just one witness, a traffic engineering specialist.
