Tree felling in Pioneer cemetery has started but the trees in question are those tagged, along with trees earmarked for destruction in Queen Elizabeth Park, not those growing among actual graves.
Five mature trees have been felled in Elm Lane in the cemetery with contractors erecting tape warning people to stay clear of the stumps and felled wood.
In the park, tree felling and maintenance appears well advanced with many of those identified to be felled, or worked on already having been attended to.
Stump grinding of some felled trees, namely those in the vicinity of the cafe, is yet to be done.
In other parts of the park, including Memorial Drive, the mature trees that were cut down have been replaced with young plantings.
