Daphne Traynor of Featherston has won Bowls Wairarapa's Bell Tea women's singles for 2005-06.
She played fellow Wairarapa representative Liz Bondy of Greytown in the final with Traynor winning 21-.17.
Other qualifiers for post-section play were Robyn Schischka (Carterton) and Pam Lukies (Greytown) with Schischka being eliminated by Bondy 21-14 and Lukies losing to Traynor 21-10.
The tournament attracted a field of 12 and they were involved in matches of first to 21 shots with those obtaining three or four wins qualifying for post-section play. Those who didn't manage that were then involved in a plate competition and results there were:-
Round one: Makaia Campbell beat Avis Cooper 21-7, Leigh Matenga-Te Maari beat Jean Monk 21-16, Joan Leach beat Jean Thomas 21-14, Barbara Logue beat Jean Paku 21-19.
Semi-finals: Campbell beat Matenga-Te Maari 21-10, Logue beat Leach 21-13.
Final: Campbell beat Logue 21-10.
Masterton Bowling Club played the qualifying rounds of their men's singles championships with the 24 starters having to secure three or four wins to make it through to post-section play which won't be held until January 28. The draw there is: First round: Graeme Tindall v Jim McDonald, Bob Stone v Ian Monaghan.
Round two: Dennis Richards v Les Field, Warren Fisher v John Claydon, Alec Day v Alan Blake, round one winners meet.
The venue for the centre's men's open pairs is Masterton club and they will also host the next round of matches in the McKenzie Motors sevens competition on December 11. Rounds five and six of the Hannam-Knowles competition will be held at Greytown.
