The Auckland contestants who won overseas trips in a radio competition only to be later told they would have to pay for their own airfares will now have all of their travel paid for.
West Aucklander Viv Frost won a trip for two to Kenya after she jumped off the Sky Tower last month but was told in an email two days later that she'd have to pay for her and her husband's $6000 flights.
Intrepid Travel, which promoted the competition on radio station the Edge, said the prize was always for a trip in an overseas country, not to an overseas country and offered Mrs Frost and her husband $500 towards the flights to apologise for the "confusion".
However, after the story ran in the Herald today, Intrepid Travel sought legal advice and have this evening decided to cover the airfares for all four of the winners and the person they wish to take with them on the trips.
