Two crashes happened within 10 minutes on the North Shore this evening, blocking Northern Motorway traffic and trapping one person in their car.
Just before 10pm a car hit a power pole on the Silverdale motorway exit, knocking the pole over before hitting a second car, police said.
Northern fire services shift manager Colin Underdown said firefighters were called at 9.58pm.
One fire truck was sent to the crash, on the Northern Motorway, at the intersection with Dairy Flat Highway.
Police and ambulance are also at the scene. Nobody is trapped but the motorway offramp is now blocked by both a car and the downed pole, Underdown said.
