Wellington railway operator TranZMetro expects to have trains running for the afternoon rush-hour after a line fault crippled the Hutt Valley service this morning.
All trains from the capital to Upper Hutt had to be cancelled after a pantograph, which connects a train to the overhead lines, pulled the lines down, KiwiRail spokeswoman Sophie Lee said.
"It hasn't been confirmed, but we're hoping to have services up and running for the afternoon," she said.
Cancelled trains are being replaced by buses.
