A judge says a drug-addicted transsexual who allegedly tried to rob two chemist shops of drugs can be kept in segregation while on remand in a male prison.
Victoria Crawford appeared before Judge Arthur Tompkins in Masterton District Court last Thursday facing a charge of trespass and two of aggravated robbery. Police allege on July 13 Crawford went into Porirua's North City Pharmacy seeking drugs and pretended to have a gun in her handbag.
She then stole sleeping pills which she took, lapsing into unconsciousness, requiring her to be admitted to intensive care.
Then on July 19 Crawford allegedly went into a Masterton pharmacy from where she is trespassed and after a "tussle" with staff allegedly grabbed customers' prescriptions.
Judge Tompkins remanded Crawford in custody to reappear on August 7 when she is due to plead to the charges.
