Auckland Regional Council admits it has some railway worries for the 2011 Rugby World Cup.
ARC boss Mike Lee said the city will not have the world-class public transport system it needs to deal with the influx of visitors for the event.
He said there was a $700 million shortfall projected for the Auckland public transport network over the next 10 years.
Mr Lee said the main thing needed was to electrify the rail network, but he added there was also a need to upgrade railway stations and bus services.
