KEY POINTS:
Kayakers crossing the Tasman are still 300km from Auckland and expect to arrive next week, a full three weeks after their original estimated arrival date.
They were previously expected in Auckland on Christmas Eve but have pushed their arrival date back several times and are now aiming for next Tuesday.
Sydneysiders James Castrission, 25, and Justin Jones, 24, paddled out of Forster in New South Wales on November 13. The pair have encountered sharks and 8 metre swells along the way.
The two reached the half-way mark at the beginning of December but went around in circles to try and dodge swells and headwinds.
