KEY POINTS:
A rescue helicopter yesterday winched two people from a rocky point in a South Island forest park.
Another helicopter pilot flying over Mt Richmond Forest Park, between Nelson and Blenheim, raised the alarm after seeing the pair, a 35-year-old man and a 29-year-old woman, waving a jacket and sleeping bag to get his attention. They had been tramping when the woman dislocated her knee. They spent the night out on a ridge. A search and rescue team airlifted them to a waiting ambulance in Nelson.
