KEY POINTS:
A West Coast woman says she is appalled by the behaviour of some trampers when a walker was taken ill on the Truman Track near Punakaiki in the South Island.
The woman collapsed on the track with an allergic reaction to someone else's perfume, and was being treated for anaphylactic shock.
Lyn Eddy rushed up from the Punakaiki Beach Camp to help.
She found the sick woman lying crossways on the track, with trampers literally stepping over her so they could continue their walk.
Lyn Eddy said she could not believe people would have so little regard for another human being that they would simply step over someone who was obviously in trouble.
