A Palmerston North man was flown to hospital today after suffering an allergic reaction to wasp stings while tramping in the Wairarapa.
The 62-year-old man was being looked after by a small tramping party near the Waingawa River, on the edge of the Tararua Forest Park, when he was rescued about 12.30pm.
Information from other trampers helped in locating the man, a Westpac Rescue Helicopter spokesperson said.
It was the second rescue in 12 hours for a tramper suffering an allergic reaction.
A 28-year-old woman was flown out of a hut in the Orongorongos, near Wellington, early this morning with a suspected allergic reaction to something she had eaten.
